Frigid blustery day to visit the park and trail. Several miles of the trail on the bay side were plowed by park personnel. Saw one cyclist using it. Several walkers. Park roads were snow covered. The sections of the trail that were not plowed had a good foot of snow on them, great for XC skiing. Plenty of hiking trails in the park good for hiking or snowshoeing. Ice in the trees on the bay side, some areas of the lake were frozen over though not thick enough for ice fishing. Horseshoe pond where the "houseboats" are was frozen though not sure how thick. The lake side of the peninsula ice was forming into ice dunes. Snow drifted over the trail on that side. A beautiful trail and park to visit year around.
Early November 2025. Fall foliage starting to fade but still a beautiful ride. Saw a few deer and the turtles were out on the log in the pond at the Beans trailhead end of the trail, near Home Depot.
Though roughly 2.5ish miles in length, the trail is always enjoyable to be on. This time of the year it's not real buggy. Trail is paved and in decent condition. The posts at the end of the trail have recently been painted by a member of Mercer County Trails Association.
Beautiful location and well maintained. Easy ride and not crowded when I went in September.
This trail is not scenic for most of the trail. The trail is hard to follow and I had to refer to maps several times. The trail is all paved but there is a considerable amount of debris on it from the adjacent highway. The trail should continue to Presqu Trail but falls short Severl busy intersections to cross and not the best area to travel in the afternoon as there were several unsavory person panhandling, moving scarp, and unchained dogs running.
Went from Nth River Road to Orwell. Ate at the Homestead Diner just east of the trail on Route 322. Amish Cooking. Excellent. Have a slice of the pumpkin pie. The bridge is no longer out.
This is by far the worst bike I have ever rode on. There is trash everywhere. tree limps are grown far into the trail, broken glass windows everywhere on the trail and old furniture is the type of view that you are subject to enjoy. I would rather take my chances riding on the streets of Warren, then on that trail.
7 September 2025 - rode north from the North River Road trailhead for 10 miles then back. This is an excellent trail, relatively flat and well maintained. The surface is asphalt and smooth. There are a few road crossing but the roads are not busy. There were not many people on the trail even though this was a nearly perfect day for biking. This trail could be described as a destination trail, well worth a one or two hour drive.
This map is not accurate. The Northern trailhead, with ample parking, is on Leon Road, near the intersection at 3596 Stanhope-Kelloggsville Road (Dorset, OH)41°39'13.0"N 80°36'46.8"W
Participated in Mercer County Trails Associations annual Pedal the Lakes organized bike ride. The trail is super shaded and even thicker foliage than over the Summer. End of Summer ride showing slight signs of upcoming Autumn. It was a beautiful day at the park, Maurice K. Goddard State Park. The trail offers some great views of Lake Wilhelm as well as rolling Pennsylvania terrain.
Labor Day weekend, Sunside (Route 305 in Champion) to Orwell at Route 322 and back. 35 mile round trip. Beautiful day on the trail. Plenty of shade. Most of this section is wooded with a few working farms along the way. Trail is paved and there are some bumpy sections. We enjoyed our ride on this Holiday weekend.
